The Luce della Vite winery in Montalcino is inspired by the beauty of nature, the balance of life and the power of the sun.
Luce della Vite - the light of life
The Luce della Vite wine arises from these facets and reveals elegant structure with opulent aromas of Sangiovese and Merlot grapes - simply a supertuscan of lust for life.
Where the sun shines on Tuscany
The trademark of the Tuscan wine producer Luce della Vite is the twelve-pointed sun. A sign that is more common throughout central Italy, whether on cobblestones during a walk or on the keystones above archways. It is a sign of life, a divine sign that radiates warmth. The warmth that is reflected in the Sangiovese and Merlot wines of the winery.
The Luce della Vite winery
The vineyards of Luce della Vite are located near the medieval town at an amazing altitude. Between 350 and 420 metres above sea level, 55 hectares are planted with Merlot and Sangiovese. The higher altitudes offer the Sangiovese grape clayey slate soil, while the Merlot thrives on loamy soils in the lower altitudes. The sun shines on the entire vineyard equally. Perfect climatic conditions ensure complex aromas and elegantly structured wines.
After selective harvesting, the grapes are taken to the cellar where they are macerated separately and fermented at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks or cement tanks. Only after fermentation are the wines united, be it the classic harmony of Sangiovese and Merlot for the Luce della Vite, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese for the Lux Vitis, or all three varieties for the Lucente from the Tenuta Luce. A pure Sangiovese can be found with the Luce Brunello. Finally, the wines mature for months in partly new and partly old oak barrels.
The Luce della Vite wines
Luce IGT Toscana: strong, balanced red wine with a purple body, aromas of ripe red fruits, incense, complex taste profile, supported by elegant tannins
Luce Brunello di Montalcino: dense purple, dark, ripe fruit with liquorice, tobacco and truffle, creamy body, refined structure with velvety tannins, elegant finish
Lucente IGT Tosacana: bright shiny red, soft, full-bodied, fruity notes of blackberry, plum and redcurrant, toasted and vanilla notes, sweet fruity aftertaste
The beginning of the Luce della Vite winery
The history of the relatively young winery from Montalcino begins with Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi, who shared a common goal: to create a wine that fuses the boundaries of tradition and modernity. With the union of the two families, Luce della Vite was able to draw on a wealth of experience. Despite all this knowledge, nature plays an important role in which the winery does not interfere. For the beauty of the land, the perfect terroir, is primarily responsible for the magnificently thriving grape varieties. Today, oenologist Lamberto Frescobaldi is in charge of the creation of Tuscany's wines, matured in wood and full of character.
