The Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva from Sella & Mosca from Sardinia presents a bright, purple-red color in the wine glass. There is also a color transition to garnet red at the rim. Poured into a red wine glass, this red wine from Italy offers wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, blackcurrant, mulberry and black cherry, rounded off by toasted barrique, oak and cigar box, which are contributed by ageing in wooden barrels.
The Sella & Mosca Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva is pleasantly dry to the palate. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. Thanks to its moderate fruit acidity, the Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva flatters the palate with a pleasing sensation without lacking freshness. On the finish, this very storable red wine from the wine-growing region of Sardinia finally impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum. Mineral notes from the clay-dominated soil are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Sella & Mosca Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva
The balanced Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Carignan grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Sardinia. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into clay soils. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Terre Rare Carignano del Sulcis Riserva are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for 36 months in oak barrels. Ageing in wooden barrels is followed by considerable bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.
