More information
The Cuvée Luise from the Wageck Winery is a harmonious red wine from Cabernet Dorsa, Cabernet Dorio, Dornfelder and Pinot noir precoce aged in barrique. The berry-juicy cuvée from mainly new varieties of Cabernet is dedicated to the great-grandmother Luise of the winemakers Pfaffmann.
In the glass, this wine appears in a deep ruby red. Fruity aromas of ripe morello cherries and juicy blackberries unfold on the nose. There are also vanilla tones, subtle herbal spice and some wood from barrel aging. Deep fruit notes dominate the palate of this German red wine. The dense texture and juicy fruit richness are skillfully enveloped by fine tannins. The finish awaits with a pleasant length.
Vinification of the Cuvée Luise Wageck
Thomas Pfaffmann is the 5th generation to run the Wageck winery. New varieties and old vines from Burgundy grow on sites characterized by tertiary limestone. They develop a fine minerality and finesse in the wines. The grapes of these cuvées are between 5 and 20 years old and grow on partly chalky south-facing slopes and partly sandy-gravelly mixed soils around Bissersheim and Großkarlbach.
The grapes are harvested selectively and by hand - between the beginning of September and the beginning of October. The must of this red wine cuvée is aged in French oak barriques after 3 weeks of maceration.
Food recommendation for the Wageck Tertiary Luise
Enjoy this wonderful German red wine cuvée with hearty German cuisine such as rouladen or cabbage rolls, with pasta with meat sauces, with pork medallions or simply with a snack.
