More information about The Mentors Petit Verdot - KWV

KWV's powerful The Mentors Petit Verdot glows into the glass with a dense ruby red color. As you swirl the glass, this red wine reveals a high density and richness, which is evident in strong church windows at the rim of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from KWV displays aromas of black currants, blueberries, mulberries and blackberries, complemented by dark chocolate, cinnamon and gingerbread spice. On the palate, KWV's The Mentors Petit Verdot starts wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an immensely dense texture. With its lively fruit acidity, The Mentors Petit Verdot reveals itself impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the granite-dominated soils.

Vinification of the KWV The Mentors Petit Verdot

The powerful The Mentors Petit Verdot from South Africa is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Petit Verdot grape variety. In the Western Cape, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of granite. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, The Mentors Petit Verdot is aged for another 18 months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for KWV The Mentors Petit Verdot

This South African red wine is best enjoyed at a temperate temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect to accompany lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs, goose breast with gingered red cabbage and marjoram or leek soup.
