    The Olive Grove Chardonnay 2018 - d'Arenberg

The Olive Grove Chardonnay from d'Arenberg from the Australian growing region McLaren Vale in Adelaide is a generous, pure grape variety and rich in finesse white wine.

In the glass this wine shines in a brilliant greenish-yellow colour, which is interspersed with golden accents. Its aromatic, crisp nose delights with aromas of white flowers, tropical fruits, Granny Smith apples and white nectarines. On the palate, this Californian white wine presents a voluminous body and sweet aromas of white peach and lime with a hint of brioche. A piquant acidity builds up on the palate and leads to a long finish with hints of cashew nut and fine textured tannins.

Vinification of Chardonnay d'Arenberg The Olive Grove

As soon as the grapes have arrived in the d'Arenberg cellar, the grapes are gently crushed in small batches, cooled and pressed in a basket. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks. The 7-month ageing in French oak barrels adds to the complexity.

Food recommendation for the  The Olive Grove Chardonnay from d'Arenberg

Serve this dry white wine from Australia with salads with a light dressing, risotto with various cheeses, pasta al forno, shrimp satay and poultry dishes such as Coq au Vin.

    The name The Olive Grove

The name of the wine derives from the olive trees growing in the Mediterranean climate of the McLaren Vale, which have thrived in this region since the European settlement in the 1840s. Over time, however, they increased so much that they became a threat to the local flora. Along the streets and in the vineyards of the winery you can see many olive trees. For example, they grow in the rows within the Chardonnay parcel and block the way for the grape harvesters. But all the trouble is forgotten as soon as the new harvest of olive oil is pressed and served with a good glass of Chardonnay.
