More information
The Torre di Giano Vigna Il Pino Bianco Torgiano DOC - Tenuta di Torgiano is a cru matured in wooden barrels. In the glass, the Vigna Il Pino is an intense straw yellow with brilliant greenish reflections. On the nose, it reveals complex, complex fruity aromas of white fruit, pear, peach, fruit salad and citrus fruits, delicate floral aromas of lime blossom, thyme and acacia blossom with a refined woody note and nuances of coconut, vanilla and white chocolate in the background. On the palate, this very harmonious dry white wine from Umbria impresses with its elegance, its fine, balanced and refreshing acidity, reminiscent of citrus and delicate white fruits, tasty and appealing, with a good structure. The finish is very long-lasting, spicy, with slight mineral nuances in the aftertaste.
Vinification of the Torre di Giano Vigna del Pino Bianco Torgiano DOC by Lungarotti
This structured white wine was one of the first whites in Italy to be matured in barriques in the 1970s. Torre di Giano Vigna del Pino is a cru from the 3-hectare vineyard of the same name at medium altitude on the Brufa hill. Facing west, the vines grow on loamy, moderately deep soils with deeper calcareous layers.
The Torre di Giano Vigna Il Pino is vinified from Vermentino, Trebbiano and Grechetto. After the manual selective harvest in crates in mid-September, 30% of the so-called Mosto Fiore, the first must, is matured on the lees in barriques and 70% in stainless steel tanks for a period of 4 to 6 months following the cold maceration process. The wines are blended and bottled the following spring. The Vigna Il Pino matures in the bottle for a further 3 years before being released for sale.
This wine is a special selection from Torre di Giano and is only produced in selected vintages. When stored correctly, the Vigna del Pino has an amazingly long life.
