The barrel-aged Us de la meng from the wine-growing region the Ahr offers itself in the glass in bright purple. Poured into a Burgundy goblet, this red wine from the Old World presents wonderfully expressive aromas of black currant, black cherry, blackberry and plum, rounded off by dark chocolate, black tea and vanilla contributed by the barrel aging.
On the palate, Meyer-Näkel's Us de la meng opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Balanced and multifaceted, this dense and velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Us de la meng reveals itself exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of the Ahr finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of morello cherry and black cherry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by slate and loess are added.
Vinification of the Us de la meng by Meyer-Näkel
The balanced Us de la meng from Germany is a cuvée, pressed from the grape varieties Dornfelder, Pinot noir precoce and Spätburgunder. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Ahr region. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of slate and loess. After the harvest, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Us de la meng is aged for several months in oak barrels.
