100 Years of Small Juice Shops "- Van Nahmen fruit juice factory from the Rhineland. Van Nahmen was founded in 1917 as a Rhenish apple cabbage factory. At that time, people were gnawing at the scarf of hunger and there was no end to the First World War in sight. The start was made by the rural enterprise as Wilhelm (I.) van Nahmen. Apple cabbage was the first product, because in times of hunger the Rhenish apple and turnip herb was a sought-after product, which was nutritious and full of energy and came to the people as well.
After 13 years, Wilhelm's son Wilhelm (II.) van Nahmen joined the entrepreneurial stage. Wilhelm, 19 years old, also started out with entrepreneurial foresight and, in addition to apple power, began producing fruit juices, initially as a wage mostery, which is still practiced at Van Nahmen today. For example, owners of orchards from the Lower Rhine and the adjacent Mu? nsterland region have their apples mined into juice in return.
After the war, Van Nahmen was all about juice. The quantity grew without sacrificing the quality of Van Nahmen juices. The reason for this was the gentle production from regional fruit such as apples, pears and red currants.
The third generation finally took over responsibility in 1990. The eldest son Rainer van Nahmen took over the management of the private pellet factory and invented the juice of fruit orchards, which fit into the growing environmental awareness. The Nature Conservation Union of Germany (Nabu) had persuaded him to disappear as more and more orchards threatened to disappear. Since 1994, van Nahmen's press has been pressing apples from traditional orchards separately and bottling them as "apple juice from orchards".
Naturally unsprayed fruit, no artificial fertilisation, old varieties, separate pressing, optimum ratio of acidity and sugar, artisanal methods and the separately advertised product line, that is what makes this special apple juice. Van Nahmen's "Little Juice Shop" was one of the first wineries to consistently follow the principle of "meadow orchards" and still have its focus today. Today there are more than 200 cultivation contracts with orchard owners. The idea has thus proved to be sustainable in the long term.
Three varieties of fruit seccos have recently been launched on the market at Van Nahmen after five years of development: apple quince, grape and apple-strawberry-raspberry.
