Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2015 - Marchesi Antinori
The Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva by Marchesi Antinori presents itself in a bright ruby red glass. On the nose it develops intense fruity notes of ripe cherries and wild berries, as well as well integrated aromas of toasted wood, tobacco and a light balsamic nuance. On the palate, this Chianti Classico Riserva is engaging, lively, tasty, full-bodied, with soft and velvety tannins. The finish is long, delicate, definite, elegant and persistent.
Vinification of Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva by Marchesi Antinori
For this fine Chianti Classico Riserva Sangiovese are vinified to at least 90% and other red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to a maximum of 10%. After gentle destemming and pressing, the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, separated by grape variety, at a controlled temperature of 30°C maximum. The maceration on the skins over 15 days serves to extract aromas, structure and soft tannins. The Sangiovese undergoes its alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the other red grape varieties in second and third use barriques, then the individual lots are married to the wine. The ageing is then continued in wooden barrels, mainly large barrels, a small proportion in barriques, until the spring after next. After bottling in summer, the wine matures in the bottle for at least three months before being sold.
A Chianti Riserva must be aged for at least 24 months from 1st January after the harvest, including at least 3 months in the bottle.
With the inauguration of the new Chianti Classico cellars, Antinori wanted to revive a historical label that was first produced in 1928. 60% of the wine was aged in wooden barrels, the rest in small French and Hungarian barriques. A small proportion was aged in new barrels. The result is this unique Chianti Classico. The flagship of the Antinori family - pure Tuscany!
