Vin de Constance 0,5 l 2017 - Klein Constantia
This dessert wine flatters the eye with a shiny golden yellow colour. The first nose of the Vin de Constance from Klein Constantia convinces with aromas of kumquats, dried fruits and grapefruits. The fruity notes of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing such as gingerbread spice, roasted almond and roasted hazelnut.
The Vin de Constance can be described as exceptionally fruity and velvety, as it was vinified with a wonderfully sweet taste profile. This creamy dessert wine is powerful and multi-layered on the palate. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Vin de Constance is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this excellently maturing dessert wine from the Coastal Region, more precisely from Cape Town, finally captivates with a remarkable finish.
Vinification of the Vin de Constance from Klein Constantia
This dessert wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Gelber Muskateller. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally powerful, varietal wine from Klein Constantia.
After the harvest, the grapes are immediately transported to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the fermentation is completed, this sweet wine is aged for 3 years in barrels - a combination of new French and Hungarian oak barrels, and barrels of French acacia. This is followed by another 6 months in steel tanks before this dessert wine is bottled.
Food recommendation for the Klein Constantia Vin de Constance
This dessert wine from South Africa is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to banana trifle in a glass, blackberry cream dessert or coconut-kefir cream.
