More information
In the glass, the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico from the pen of Tenute Marchese Antinori presents a dense light yellow color. In the middle, the tone changes to a beautiful color. After the first swirl, this dessert wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in the stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This Italian cuvée flatters the glass with wonderfully elegant notes of dried fruit, fruit loaves, mirabelle plums and peaches. There are also hints of toasted hazelnut, brittle and walnut.
The Tenute Marchese Antinori Vin Santo del Chianti Classico has an incredibly fruity taste on the palate, which is of course also due to its residual sweet profile. On the palate, the texture of this powerful dessert wine is wonderfully silky, melting, creamy and dense. The Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its present fruit acidity. The finish of this well-matured dessert wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region, more precisely from Vin Santo del Chianti DOC, ultimately impresses with a remarkable finish.
Vinification of the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico from Tenute Marchese Antinori
The powerful Vin Santo del Chianti Classico from Italy is a cuvée made from the Malvasia Fina and Trebbiano grape varieties. The Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The fact that the Malvasia Fina and Trebbiano grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has an undeniable influence on the ripeness of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. The grapes for the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is aged for 36 months in oak barrels.
