The barrel-aged Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune from the Burgundy wine-growing region presents a bright light red color in the glass. Swiveling the glass, one can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. This varietal French wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of blackberries, blueberries, black currants and mulberries. These are joined by hints of roasted almond, toasted hazelnut and walnut.
The Bouchard Père & Fils Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune presents itself to the wine lover pleasantly dry. This red wine is never coarse or meager, but round and smooth. Balanced and complex, this fleshy red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune flatters the palate with a soft feeling, without lacking freshness. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Burgundy wine region, more precisely from Côte de Beaune and Haute Côtes de Beaune, finally convinces with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by clay and limestone.
Vinification of the Bouchard Père & Fils Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune
This balanced red wine from France is made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. In Burgundy, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and limestone. Of course, Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune is also defined by more than just Côte de Beaune and Haute Côtes de Beaune soil. This Frenchman can be called an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is extraordinarily impressive. After the hand harvest, the grapes arrive swiftly at the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Volnay Clos Des Chênes 1er Cru Côte de Beaune is aged for another 13 months in oak barriques.
