Weingut Hammel is located in the idyllic village of Kirchheim an der Weinstraße and was founded in 1723. Since then, it has been owned by the Hammel family and is now managed by Martin Hammel, who represents the 8th generation of the family. Grapes from vineyards such as Herrenberg and Frauenlandchen in Kleinkarlbach, from the Geisskopf in Kirchheim or the Dirmstein Mandelpfad are processed with a lot of devotion and passion. The soils of the cultivated areas are just as diverse: from limestone to clay to loess clay, the characteristics of the soil shape the wines produced here and make them incomparable.
Nestled in the Odenwald and the Haardtwald, the region around Kirchheim has the mildest climate in Germany and thus offers excellent conditions for the cultivation of both classical and modern grape varieties. Christoph Hammel is responsible for making the wines of the Weingut Hammel. Markus Nordhorn, student of viniculture and "Next Cellar Model", supports him in the expansion of the wines. True to the motto "The foundation of the winery is not the vineyards, the historic wine cellars or the old wine barrels, it is the people!", growing their own wines is not only a passion for the Hammel family, but a piece of family history, which is spread with the help of all family members, employees and those who drink their wines.
