Thomas Hensel, viticulture was born. For more than 300 years his family owns the best vineyards around Bad Dürkheim. The vineyard Hensel is located in the picturesque village right next to the airport. With the upwind, high-altitude flight and Icarus lines, Hensel picks up the exposed position with a wink. A light aircraft is also featured on the logo. Hensel's wines are not only to be found in top gastronomy, wine lovers also appreciate the wines from time-tested and trendy grape varieties. Hensel has chosen the right location for every vine, because only with the right terroir can excellent wines be created. Hensel relies on calm and care. Bad Dürkheimer cultivates its vines lovingly in the mountains, because only healthy plants can yield the best vines. After selective harvesting, the grapes are carefully transported to the cellar building, where they are pressed with little pressure. After fermentation, the wines are stored for a long time on the yeast and can stabilize. There is hardly any filtering, and thanks to the slight pressure it is usually not necessary. Unnecessary pumping around the wine will also be rented, because the wine should mature stress-free until it is drawn on the bottle. Quality features of the Hensel winery are the drastic reduction of the harvest and an extra portion of manual labour. Quality does not have to be priceless. Even the wines in the litre qualities already bring a lot of joy into the glass and with the high-flying Merlot, Thomas Hensel proves that the old Bordelaiser grape variety feels more than comfortable in the sunny Palatinate.
