Hessisches Staatsweingut Kloster Eberbach - Winegrowing since 900 years
The monastery Eberbach has a long history as a winery. Founded in the Middle Ages by the Cistercians of Clairvaux, the monastery quickly became the most successful, right-wing abbey of the order. The monastic history is long and every caesura that has been relevant in Central Europe since the High Middle Ages has left its mark on the monastery - from the Peasant Wars, the Thirty Years' War to Napoleon and the tragedies of the 20th century. Since 1945, the monastery has been owned by the State of Hesse, which has been managing the monastery's own vineyards and estates ever since.
Kloster Eberbach - Vineyards along the Hessian Wine Route
The Eberbach Monastery now cultivates more than 200 hectares of vineyards along the most beautiful terroirs from the Hessian Mountain Road to Assmannshausen. Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir are cultivated there. The rocks are very different, which gives the wines of the Ebersbach monastery a wide variety of nuances.
