A winery directly at the loosening terraces of the Wagram
The loess significantly shapes the character of the wines and gives the Grüner Veltliner a great spiciness, density and harmony. It is therefore no coincidence that more than half of the impressive 50 hectares of vineyards are dedicated to this variety. Five different Grüner Veltliners are pressed from the south-facing terraced vineyards. Outstanding are the two site wines from Brunnthal and Scheiben, which are classified as first sites of the "Traditional Wine Estates Austria". It is not a striking primary fruit that is the main focus of these wines, but the complexity of the aromas, fine minerality and an excellent potential for long bottle maturity.
Wines with distinction
The fact that the Veltliners from the Leth Winery are among the best in the country is impressively proven by first places at the "Falstaff Grüner Veltliner Grand Prix" as well as at the "SALON Österreich Wein". In addition to Grüner Veltliner, the winery also focuses on the traditional Wagram variety Roter Veltliner. With an extremely successful combination of fruitiness and juiciness, it demonstrates the quality potential of this increasingly popular speciality, which is vinified in three varieties.
Full steam ahead towards organic
The Wagram can certainly be described as a white wine region, so it is all the more astonishing that the Leth Winery has also built up a concentrated red wine competence over the past decade. Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and St. Laurent show how well these varieties thrive in a cooler climate zone. How excellently cellarmaster Franz Leth junior can handle them, he proves with the "Gigama", an exceptional Zweigelt, which already brought him the varietal victory at the Falstaff red wine award. With 2019 many things have changed at the winery, the conversion to organic wine growing will already bring the first organic certified vintage with the 2021 vintage. Extensive conversion and new construction activities in the press house, wooden barrel cellar and the entire infrastructure of the winery, which will be completed before the harvest, will then offer optimal conditions for further refining the independent character of the wines.
