The history of the winery Nelles began as early as 1479. The family Nelles looks back on a very long tradition of viticulture and can rightly call itself a true expert in this art.
Nelles - The Pinot Noir specialist
And you can taste the knowledge. The winegrowers have mastered their craft so well that on the one hand they manage to embody the charm of the region with their red and white wines and on the other hand to bring the perfect balance between acidity and mildness to the tongue. The flagship of the winery on the Ahr are the Pinot Noirs. They are fruity and tart, have a powerful aroma, but still a pronounced lightness. The Nelles winery thus proves the versatility of the red grape variety. For example, the dry Ruber Spätburgunder cannot be compared to the B-52 Spätburgunder. The Blanc de Noir Pin ot Noir also delights with its fruity aroma. In general, each of the Nelles wines is given a very personal expression.
Nelles goes sustainable into the future
The special sites of Weingut Nelles include, on the one hand, the Heimersheimer Burggarten and, on the other, the Heimersheimer Landskrone. This is where Nelles ' wines are grown with particular care and love for nature. The Ahr is considered one of the most popular wine-growing regions and offers the best conditions for giving the grapes a special aroma. The mild climate and the steep slate soils are particularly responsible for the strong and full-bodied taste. These optimal conditions are worth their weight in gold and so it is not surprising that the Nelles winery is already relying on sustainable vineyard management today in order to be able to produce top wines tomorrow and the day after. For example, the use of harmful substances is avoided wherever possible. With its long tradition and expertise, combined with its curiosity for new methods, the Nelles winery is perfectly positioned to continue producing unique wines in the future.
And here again all the vineyards of the winery Nelles are listed for you
- Landskrone This vineyard site is characterised by clay slate and greywacke. The roots of the vines reach many metres deep into the rock and thus produce very deep, mineral wines which also have a very good storage capacity.
- Burggarten It impresses with a large proportion of Devonian slate as well as a lot of volcanic rock paired with a dense loess layer. These give the wines fullness and body, but also a lot of elegance and fruitiness.
- Sonnenberg The soft sandstone in Neuenahr with its many fossil inclusions is a relic of the Ice Age. A very special species of wild bees can still be found here today, which is unique to the whole of Europe and is a protected species. The wines are powerful and full-bodied and show their charm through a fair amount of fruitiness.
