More information

Erwin Sabathi's Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC from Styria reveals a brilliant, light yellow color in the glass. This single varietal Austrian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of dried fruit, fruit loaves, prunes and raisins. It is joined by hints of roasted almond, whole-nut chocolate and brittle.

This dry white wine from Erwin Sabathi is perfect for people who prefer to drink bone dry. The Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC already comes very close to this, as it was pressed with just 1.4 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC presents itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful from the wine-growing region of Styria finally inspires with good length. There are again hints of fruit bread and dried fruit. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and marl join in.

Vinification of the Erwin Sabathi Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Pinot Blanc. Only immaculate grapes were harvested for this wonderfully elegant single-varietal wine from Erwin Sabathi. In Styria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and marl. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective full harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes immediately reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully milled. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC can continue to harmonize for several months on the fine lees...

Food recommendation for the Weißburgunder Südsteiermark DAC from Erwin Sabathi

Drink this white wine from Austria ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as a companion to spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce, roasted trout with ginger pear or spinach gratin with almonds.
