The White Blend Swartland WO from the pen of A.A. Badenhorst from the Coastal Region reveals a bright platinum yellow colour in the wine glass. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this white wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. Ideally poured into a white wine glass, this wine from South Africa reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, perfumed rose, plum and lily, rounded off by vanilla, oriental spices and cocoa bean, which the barrel ageing contributes.
This dry white wine from A.A. Badenhorst is ideal for people who like it absolutely dry. The White Blend Swartland WO already comes very close to this, as it was pressed with just 1.5 grams of residual sugar. On the palate the texture of this balanced white wine is wonderfully light and dense. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the White Blend Swartland WO flatters with a pleasing feeling on the palate, without losing its juicy liveliness. The finale of this white wine from the wine-growing region Coastal Region, more precisely from Swartland, finally inspires with an extraordinary aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by granite and slate.
Vinification of the White Blend Swartland WO from A.A. Badenhorst
This balanced white wine from South Africa is made from the grape varieties Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Clairette, Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Palomino Fino, Roussanne, Verdelho and Viognier. In the Coastal region, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on slate and granite soils. The grapes for this white wine from South Africa are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Afterwards they ferment in concrete and large wood at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a maturation of 23 months in 1200 l oak barrels.
