Pinot Blanc - Often underestimated, rarely below expectations

Pinot Blanc, also known as Pinot Bianco, is the newest member of the Burgundy family. Uncomplicated, without airs and graces, yet versatile. And although the Pinot Blanc wine is quite young, known since the 14th century, the grape variety enjoys the reputation as a superb plant. A light yellow and full-bodied white wine with fine fruity aromas, which makes Pinot Blanc the ideal companion for a variety of menus and occasions. Simply pour, lean back and enjoy. Life is simple - with a Pinot Blanc in your hand and VINELLO at your disposal.

Something for everyone

Whether as white wine, sparkling wine or sekt - Pinot Blanc fans know what they get from the mutation of Pinot Gris. A bit of Riesling, but less acidic. A bit of chardonnay, just not quite as creamy. It's a balancing act that doesn't have to hide from anyone. Simply one of the best white wines directly from Germany, France, Italy and Austria. Sometimes the label says Pinot blanc, sometimes Pinot bianco, white Burgundy or sometimes Klevner. Many names, one grape, immeasurable character.

Pinot Blanc taste

The fruity and fresh Pinot Blanc with an exotic bouquet of pineapple, apricots, mango and citrus, paired with local nuts, apples, pears and apricots. All fresh from the orchard, the Pinot Blanc aromas are combined with the neutral acidity in the pale to light yellow body, velvety and spicy in the glass waiting for the first sip. Moderate alcohol content and mellow acidity make the Pinot Blanc white wine an uncomplicated summer wine that can be combined with almost any dish.

Over the Alps and even further

Possibly grown between Lake Geneva and the Rhône, Pinot Blanc has developed into a widespread and noble grape variety, especially in Germany. Popular in Baden, Rheinhessen and the Pfalz, creations from Saxony and the cultivated areas around Saale-Unstrut inspire experts time and again. The cultivation proves to be quite problem-free on not too moist soils and in a climate that would already be too warm for the Riesling. Pinot Blanc has a mind of its own, a real youngster.

Our VINELLO recommendation

Gimmeldinger Weissburgunder trocken - A.Christmann

The Gimmeldinger Pinot Blanc is a versatile dry white wine for every hour with its round and fine fragrance of pear. Pleasant fruit acidity and fresh minerality seduce everyone to drink this white wine from Germany young. However, one is well advised to leave the Gimmeldinger for a few years. If you can keep your hands off the Pinot Blanc from the A. Christmann winery.

For your information

The term Pinot comes from the French and refers to Pin, or pine in English. Burgundy, on the other hand, is a purely place-related name.

Weissburgunder Spätlese 2015 - Winzervereinigung Freyburg-Unstrut

A Pinot Blanc late harvest is always something special. And if it comes from Saale-Unstrut, a cultivation area that has attracted attention with outstanding quality in recent years, the anticipation is much greater. Nuts, apples and pears form the delicate bouquet in the straw yellow body. The late harvest from the Freyburg-Unstrut winery is harmoniously balanced with light meat and fish dishes.
