In the glass, the Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner from Mayer am Pfarrplatz reveals a brilliantly shimmering platinum yellow color. In the glass, this white wine from Mayer am Pfarrplatz offers aromas of quince, apples, nashi pear and pears, complemented by juniper, green peppers and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, Mayer am Pfarrplatz's Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This white wine belongs to the latter, as it was vinified with just 1.4 g of residual sugar. Light on its feet and complex, this crisp white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner flatters the palate with a soft feel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Vienna finally inspires with good length. There are again hints of pear and quince. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by marl and limestone join in.
Vinification of the Mayer am Pfarrplatz Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner
This elegant white wine from Austria is vinified from the grape varieties Welschriesling (Riesling Italico, Olaszrizling), Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Vienna. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and marl. After the hand harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully milled. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner is allowed to further harmonize on the fine lees for 3 months.
Food recommendation for the Mayer am Pfarrplatz Wiener Klassik Grüner Veltliner
This Austrian white wine is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables, fruity endive salad or potato pan with salmon.
