Zeanto - in the hills of San Benedetto

The Zenato family winery is situated in the hills of San Benedetto on the southern shore of Lake Garda in the town of Peschiera del Garda. Since the foundation of the winery in 1960, the founding father Sergio Zenato has worked with determination and passion, combined with a constant quest for even better quality in his wines. The wines resulting from his work were highly regarded internationally and Zenato was soon considered a pioneer of Italian viticulture. Sergio Zenato's son Alberto continues his father's life's work together with his sister Nadia and his mother.

With success - as Italy's most renowned wine guide Gambero Rosso noted: "Sometimes it seems to us that the Zenatos have a kind of magic wand with which they are able to locate the mood of the vineyard and customers alike. In any case, their reds and whites are characterised by a peaceful sweetness, an impressive freshness and a finesse that is in tune with each other, without losing the expression of the vine or the terroir".

Vinification at the Zenato Winery

The Zenato family's 75 hectares are mainly planted with red wine varieties, although the proportion of white varieties is constantly growing.

Gentle work in the vineyard (which includes the finest sites of the DOC regions Lugana and Bardolino) and working in harmony with the natural conditions and traditional knowledge are the prerequisites for qualities that are brought to the market year after year by Zenato. In some cases, the harvest volumes are significantly lower than the average yields of the region.

In the cellars Alberto Zenato also follows his own path very conscientiously. After a gentle pressing, the must is carefully processed to achieve a controlled and slow fermentation. It is then refined in wooden barrels, also by variety, and finally bottled.

Great variety of white and red wines

Under Senior Sergio Zenato the family winery has become a pioneer in Lugana wine. This Italian white wine from the Trebbiano grape now forms the spearhead of Zenato's range.

From Bardolino Chiaretto DOC and Bardolino DOC as everyday wines, the spectrum ranges from Ripassa Valpolicella Superiore DOC to the king wine of Veneto, Amarone della Valpolicella DOC.
