The Zolla Primitivo di Manduria from Vigneti del Salento is a milestone for the mother winery Farnese Vini in Abruzzo. With this red wine from Apulia, the Farnese oenologists have proven that even at a lower price, grandiose red wines with a lot of power and full body are possible.
In the glass this wine comes with fantastically dense purple red and ruby red reflexes. The wonderfully complex and spicy nose enchants with cherries, ripe blackberries and juicy plums. Spicy notes of cinnamon, juniper, some vanilla and a subtle smoky undertone complement.
On the palate this Italian red wine starts with a lot of fruit, incredibly soft tannins and a fine fruit sweetness. Spicy, fruity and juicy fresh nuances go hand in hand. The round tannins structure this Primitivo really first-class and introduce a long and multi-faceted finish.
Vinification of Zolla Primitivo di Manduria
Chief oenologist Filippo Baccalaro has chosen a vinification for his Zolla that is otherwise only reserved for the flagships. This begins with the selective selection of the grapes, which are harvested at perfect ripeness and then fermented on the mash. The Primitivo then matures in French and American oak barriques for about 8 months before this red wine is finally bottled.
Food recommendation for the Vigneti del Salento Zolla Primitivo di Manduria Magnum
Enjoy this wonderful red wine from southern Italy with steaks and sausages, with hearty pasta dishes or just for fun, also with a rich chocolate.
