More information
The Zolla Primitivo di Manduria from Vigneti del Salento is a milestone for the parent winery Farnese Vini in Abruzzo. With this red wine from Apulia, the Farnese oenologists have proven that great red wines with a lot of power and full body are also possible at a price noticeably below EUR 15.
The Zolla Primitivo di Manduria comes into the glass with a fantastically dense purple-red color and ruby-red reflections. The wonderfully complex and spicy nose enchants with cherries, ripe blackberries and juicy plums. Spicy notes of cinnamon, juniper, a little vanilla and a subtle smoky undertone complement this.
On the palate, the Zolla Primitivo starts with lots of fruit, incredibly soft tannins and a fine fruity sweetness. Spicy, fruity and juicy-fresh nuances go hand in hand. The round tannins give this Primitivo a truly first-class structure and introduce a long, multi-faceted finish.
Vinification of the Zolla Primitivo di Manduria
Chef oenologist Filippo Baccalaro has chosen a vinification method for his Zolla that is otherwise only reserved for flagship wines. This begins with the selective choice of grapes, which are harvested when perfectly ripe and then fermented on the skins. The Primitivo then matures in French and American oak barriques for around 8 months before finally being bottled.
Wine recommendation for the Vigneti del Salento Zolla Primitivo di Manduria
Enjoy this wonderful red wine from southern Italy with steaks and sausages, hearty pasta dishes or simply on its own, even with a rich chocolate.
