More information
The Zweigelt of Leo Hillinger from Burgenland shows a brilliant, bright red color in the wine glass. The nose of this red wine from Burgenland captivates with hints of plum, plum, morello cherry and black cherry. If we trace the aromatics further, gingerbread spice, vanilla and cinnamon are added.
The Leo Hillinger Zweigelt delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the high quality wine range, this Austrian naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed red wine is characterized by a tremendously melting texture. The final of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Burgenland, more precisely from Lake Neusiedl, finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by loess soil and volcanic rock.
Vinification of the Zweigelt from Leo Hillinger
The basis for the elegant Zweigelt from Burgenland are grapes from the Zweigelt grape variety. In Burgenland, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of loess, volcanic rock and black earth. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Zweigelt are harvested exclusively by hand, without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Zweigelt can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for a few months....
