With the Johann Topf Zweigelt Strassertal comes a first-class red wine into the swirled glass. In this it shows a wonderfully brilliant, bright red color. Poured into a red wine glass, this Old World red wine presents wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, black cherry, morello cherry and plum, rounded off by gingerbread spice, black tea and cinnamon contributed by the barrel aging.
On the palate, Johann Topf's Zweigelt Strassertal starts pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. There are dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was bottled with only 1 gram of residual sugar. On the palate, the texture of this light-bodied red wine is wonderfully velvety. Due to its lively fruit acidity, Zweigelt Strassertal reveals itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria, more precisely from Kamptal, finally thrills with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the clay-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Zweigelt Strassertal by Johann Topf
This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Zweigelt. Only first-class grape material was brought in for this wonderfully elegant varietal wine from Johann Topf. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lower Austria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Zweigelt Strassertal is aged for another 3 months in oak barrels.
