The organically produced Zweigelt from Weingut Toni Hartl shimmers into the glass with a bright light red. Tilting the glass a bit, a transition of the hue towards garnet red is visible at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. In the glass, this red wine from Weingut Toni Hartl presents aromas of plums and sour cherries, complemented by mineral. This red wine from Weingut Toni Hartl is just right for purists who would prefer 0.0 grams of sugar in the wine. The Zweigelt already comes very close to this, it was pressed with just 1.7 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Zweigelt flatters the palate with a velvety feeling, without lacking freshness at the same time. The final of this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally thrills with considerable reverberation. This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Zweigelt. For this exceptionally balanced single-varietal wine from Weingut Toni Hartl, only immaculate grapes were used. In Lower Austria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and slate. The grapes for this red wine from Austria, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the organically produced Zweigelt is aged for another 22 months in oak barrels.
