Bodega Santa Carolina has been around for more than 140 years, delighting wine connoisseurs all over the world.
Wines from the heart of the Chilean capital - Santa Carolina Winery
Founded in 1875 by the entrepreneur Luis Pereyra Cotapos, the winery was named after his wife Carolina Iñiguez Vicuña.
In order to bring the best grape varieties from the Bordeaux region to Chile, Luis Pereyra Cotapos initially worked with the oenologist Germain Bachelet. At about the same time, the most important buildings were designed and built by the French architect Emile Doyeré. Today the colonial mansion and bodegas are considered a National Cultural Monument of Chile and have been awarded accordingly. The Bodega Santa Carolina is located directly in the urban area of the Chilean capital Santiago and can even be easily reached by subway.
Six different growing regions
The traditional winery stands for wines of very high quality. Only grapes from the best individual sites are pressed. Santa Carolina has the comfortable situation to serve itself from six different growing regions. They are distributed around Santiago de Chile and are called
Casablanca Valley
Leyda Valley
Maipo Valley
Cashapoal Valley
Colchagua Valley and
Maule Valley.
Due to their proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the Andes, these regions offer a variety of climatic conditions. For example, one region can have relatively cool summers and winters, while another region has mild winters and hot summers. However, the grapes of all regions are allowed to ripen optimally and are strictly selected to be pressed into intense, powerful and complex wines. The harvest from the Central Valley, for example, provides an exceptional starting point for great wines, which are slowly and carefully refined in French oak barrels.
Balanced wines of Santa Carolina
Also at this top winery, tradition and modern technology come together and, together with the expertise of internationally renowned oenologists, produce excellent wines that are well worth drinking. The aim is always to produce harmonious and balanced wines with finesse and fruit, typical of the grape variety. The Santa Carolina Winery uses Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Shiraz grapes.
