Roberta Bricolo is at the head of the family business Azienda Agricola Gorgo, founded in 1975 by her parents Alberta and Roberto. Since the beginning it has been dedicated to the production of the classic wines of this wonderful corner of the Veneto, between Verona and Lake Garda, the "heart" of this region. The winery is part of the history of the Verona region and the path that led to its creation is exemplary of the Bricolo family way of doing business.

Roberta's parents turned their backs on their respective families' businesses to pursue together the dream of a winery in their homeland. Their energy and passion can still be felt today. Roberto's courage and ideas, combined with Alberta's determination, were the ideal conditions to produce wines in the 80's and distribute them first in the Verona region and later internationally. At the same time, they were pioneers in the field of tourism, opening their vineyards and cellars to the public and offering guided tours and overnight stays on the estate.

The enterprising spirit and enthusiasm of the parents set the course for the life and work of their daughter. Raised in the countryside, Roberta, after completing her classical studies in Verona, embarked on a career as a lawyer before dreaming more and more of the life of a winemaker, which she still lives today.

Philosophy

Organic viticulture represents and embodies the family's values, as it is a method of cultivation that allows the vinification to be planned directly in the vineyard. It is based on the belief in the potential of the vineyard, even without the use of chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides. Increasing quantity at the expense of the plant and quality is strongly opposed to the work of Azienda Agricola Gorgo.

Cellar & Terroir

Our company has a 50 year history in the Verona region. Currently, an area of 53 hectares is cultivated. The cellar is personally managed by the owner, supported by a powerful cellar team. The goal is to produce authentic wines. The moraine soils, deposited in the great amphitheater east of Lake Garda by retreating glaciers during the Quaternary period, formed low, rolling hills overlooking the Po Valley. It was on these soils, so suitable for growing grapes (there are traces of vines dating back to the Bronze Age), that the Gorgo farm was founded in 1973 near the small village of Custoza in the municipality of Sommacampagna (VR).

Typically whitish with a light structure of rocky boulders, stones and pebbles, humus and silt, rich in calcium carbonate with a high pH. This combination of elements derived from moraine debris is fundamental to the style of wines produced here: minerality and great complexity. The second factor that most characterizes the terroir of the Custoza region is the climate. The currents from Lake Garda create a Mediterranean microclimate that is not typical of a region in northern Italy.
