Tasca d'Almerita Winery is a traditional Sicilian wine producer owned by a noble family, located between Palermo and Caltnissetta in the south-east.
Top wines from the Sicilian highlands
Tasca d' Almerita is famous for its IGT Regaleali wines (red, rosé and white). Its Rosso del Conte is just as classic as the white Nozze d' Oro, both with exceptional shelf life. Impressive wines from Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon are produced on the newly planted vineyards of Tasca d' Almerita.
Tasca d'Almerita - Winery with history
The history of the Tasca d' Almerita winery began in 1830, when the brothers Don Lucio and Don Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca bought the former Regaleali estate in the countryside near Sclafani. Today, the family business Tasca d' Almerita cultivates 400 hectares of vineyards. As early as 1871, Regaleali's wine was awarded a medal of honour at the Syracuse exhibition.
All to the ground! - Tasca d'Almerita and the Sostain sustainability programme
Tasca simply wants to ensure that the 8 generations of successful viticulture are followed by many more. This can only be achieved if you not only take but also give to the environment. The best way to do this is through sustainability, little chemistry and a sensible approach to soil and nature. Sostain is a program that enables Tasca d' Almerita to learn for years where and how the winery influences its environment.
The wines from Tasca d'Almerita
In addition to the classic Tasca d' Almerita wines of the Tenuta Regaleali, the Sallier de la Tour label also produces wonderfully expressive white and red wines. Variety prevails in the grape varieties. The classic Sicilian wines, such as
Grillo and
Nero d' Avola
but also international top grapes such as
Syrah or
Cabernet Sauvignon
are to be found in the vineyards of Tasca d' Almerita. All of the wines are so ingeniously typical of the grape variety that the Gambero Rosso named the winery of the year in 2012. The wine experts Laura Orsi and Carlo Ferrini, who give the wines their impressive character, are certainly one of the reasons for this.
