More information about Colheita 0,375 l - Niepoort
The barrel-aged Colheita from the Douro & Porto wine-growing region reveals itself in the glass in a dense purple red. The first nose of the Colheita presents nuances of raisins and apricots. The fruity notes of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing and even more fruity, balsamic nuances.
The powerful Niepoort Colheita reveals an incredibly fruity taste on the palate, which is of course also due to its residual sweet taste profile. On the palate, the texture of this powerful fortified wine is wonderfully dense. The balanced fruit acidity gives the Colheita a pleasant mouthfeel without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this wine from the Douro & Porto region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of apricot and raisins. Mineral notes from the slate-dominated soils are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Niepoort Colheita
The basis for the powerful Colheita from Douro & Porto are grapes from the Tempranillo, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Francisca, Tinto Cão and Touriga Nacional grape varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Douro & Porto. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into slate soils. When perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Colheita are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of coarse and less selective harvesters.
