To the nose, this Varvaglione red wine presents all sorts of black cherries, plums, morello cherries, mulberries and plums. As if that wasn't already impressive, gingerbread spice, dark chocolate and oak join the mix due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
The 12 e Mezzo Negroamaro del Salento from Varvaglione is ideal for all connoisseurs who like it dry. However, it is never dry or brittle, as one would expect from a wine in the upper price range. Light-footed and complex, this velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of Puglia, which can be stored well, finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of morello cherry and blueberry show.
Vinification of the 12 e Mezzo Negroamaro del Salento by Varvaglione
This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Negroamaro. Only the best grapes were used for this exceptionally elegant single varietal wine from Varvaglione. After the harvest, the grapes arrive quickly at the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the 12 e Mezzo Negroamaro del Salento is aged for another 6 months in American oak barriques.
