More information about Mount Athos Vineyards - Tsantali
Mount Athos Vineyards by Tsantali from the Greek wine region of Chalkidiki (Athos) is an aromatic, balanced and powerful red wine cuvée vinified from the Cabernet Sauvignon and Limnio grape varieties.
In the glass this wine shimmers in a bright ruby red with cherry red highlights in the glass. The nose delights in a spicy, fruity bouquet that presents aromas of juicy cherries, fresh garden herbs and spicy, woody nuances. On the palate, this Greek red wine has a balanced, round body. The many hours of sunshine enjoyed by the vines of this wine also provide a velvety melt.
Vinification of the Tsantali Mount Athos Vineyards
The grapes for this red wine come from the Metohi Chromitsa, St. Panteleimon, Monastery and Mount Athos vineyards.
This wine is traditionally vinified in open barrels. On the skins, the mash remains for 48 hours at low temperature. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks for 12 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in well toasted small oak barrels. For aging, this red wine is placed in French oak barrels for 8 months. Finally, this wine rounds off in bottle for 6 months before leaving the winery.
