More information about Côte de Beaune Rouge AOC - Joseph Drouhin

The barrel-aged Côte de Beaune Rouge from the Burgundy wine-growing region appears bright light red in the glass. Holding the glass at a slight angle, a transition of hue towards garnet red can be seen at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the glass, one can perceive a first-rate balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. The nose of this red wine from Burgundy convinces with aromas of plum, morello cherry, black cherry and plum. If we trace the aromatics further, cinnamon, gingerbread spice and cocoa bean come in.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine icon wine segment, this Frenchman naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need residual sugar. Balanced and complex, this silky and fleshy red wine presents itself on the palate. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of Burgundy finally inspires with beautiful length. There are again hints of mulberry and black currant. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by marl and clay are added.

Vinification of the Côte de Beaune Rouge by Joseph Drouhin

The balanced Côte de Beaune Rouge from France is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Pinot Noir grape variety. In Burgundy, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and marl. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for the Côte de Beaune Rouge by Joseph Drouhin

This French red wine is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect to accompany pasta with sausage dumplings, cabbage roulades or lamb stew with chickpeas and dried figs.
