Vinification of the Ramos Pinto Duas Quintas Reserva Douro

This powerful red wine from Portugal is made from Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grape varieties. In Douro & Porto, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate and granite. What is unusual about the origin of this top Ramos Pinto wine is the fact that the grapes in Douro & Porto grow on stone terraces. This traditional form of vineyard management, however, is very laborious and therefore rarely found anymore. The Duas Quintas Reserva Douro is an Old World wine through and through, as this Portuguese exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The grapes for this red wine from Portugal, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand . After the harvest, the grapes immediately reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by aging for 18 months in oak barriques.
