More information about Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion AOC - Château Fonroque
The Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion from Château Fonroque in Bordeaux offers a dense purple color in the glass. When swirling the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of the Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion presents notes of elderberry. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as juniper berry, blueberry and butter.
On the palate, Château Fonroque's Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion starts wonderfully dry, grippy and aromatic. There is dry and really dry. This red wine belongs to the second group, as it was bottled with just 0.5 grams of residual sugar. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety texture. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion flatters with a soft palate feeling, without lacking freshness at the same time. In the finish, this very storable red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of elderberry appear.
Vinification of the Côte de Fonroque Grand Cru St.-Emilion by Château Fonroque
This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Merlot. Only the best grape material was used for this exceptionally powerful varietal wine from Château Fonroque. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barriques.
