More information about Trefilari Primitivo Salento IGT - Cantina Sampietrana
The Trefilari Primitivo Salento IGT from Cantina Sampietrana is a wonderfully smooth red wine from the Italian wine-growing region of Salento in Apulia. In the glass, this red wine shimmers a dark ruby red with violet highlights. The nose reveals strong, clear aromas of Amarena cherries, juicy redcurrants and blueberries. The fruity aromas are delicately underlined by hints of cloves. The red Trefilari has an elegant character on the palate, which is supported by a supple and full body. The finish is long and pleasantly persistent.
Vinification of the Trefilari Primitivo Salento IGT from Cantina Sampietrana
For this red wine, 100% of the autochthonous Primitivo grape variety is vinified from selected vineyards. In the style of a "Grand Cru", a strict selection is carried out on the best plots during the grape harvest. The vines, which grow on calcareous and clayey soils, are trained using the traditional "alberello pugliese" method, which delivers optimal results, especially for the local grape varieties. After manual harvesting from the first week of September, the grapes are macerated and fermented at a controlled temperature, then gently pressed and the marc separated from the wine. The wine is then matured in barriques for 12 months before being released for sale.
