More information about Collection 244 Champagner - Champagne Louis Roederer

With the Champagne Louis Roederer Collection 242 Champagne comes a first-class champagne in the wine glass. Here he offers a wonderfully bright, light red color. The bubbles of this sparkling wine are incredibly fine, elegant and long-lasting in the glass. If you swirl the glass, you can perceive a first-class balance in this sparkling wine, because it stands out on the glass walls neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. This French cuvée flatters in the glass wonderfully distinguished and complex notes of pears, acacia and ripe apple. These are joined by hints of lemon zest, mineral and hazelnut.

This Champagne from Champagne Louis Roederer is something for wine lovers who do not like it completely dry. The Collection 242 Champagne comes appropriately for it with 8.7 grams of residual sugar in the glass. On the tongue, this balanced champagne is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. Due to its concise fruit acid, the Collection 242 Champagne is impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The final of this well-matured sparkling wine from the wine-growing region of Champagne finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the limestone-dominated soils.

Vinification of Champagne Louis Roederer Collection 242 Champagne

This balanced sparkling wine from France is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes. In Champagne, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone. Collection 242 Champagne is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Collection 242 Champagne are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of punishing and barely selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and gently broken up. Now follows the fermentation of the base wines. After the composition of the final champagne follows further aging based on the Méthode Champenoise. Subsequently, the Champagne Louis Roederer Collection 242 Champagne matures for several months in the bottle and is finally disgorged.

Roederer's Collection 242 was mostly assembled from the 2017 vintage, 34% from the Réserve Perpétuelle and 10% from barrel-aged reserve wines from the 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 vintages, after which it is allowed to age in the cellar for 3 to 4 years.

Food recommendation for the Collection 242 Champagne from Champagne Louis Roederer

This French sparkling wine is best enjoyed very well chilled at 5 - 7°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to vegetable stew with pesto, cabbage roulades or pasta with sausage dumplings.
