More information about Il Torrino - Poggio alla Sala

The elegant Il Torrino from Poggio alla Sala shines bright purple red in the glass. Held at a slight angle, a transition of the wine's color towards garnet red is visible at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. The nose of this Poggio alla Sala red wine reveals all kinds of morello cherries, blueberries, blackcurrants, black cherries and plums.

This dry red wine from Poggio alla Sala is something for people who would prefer 0.0 grams of sugar in their wine. Il Torrino comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 1.5 grams of residual sugar. The texture of this balanced red wine is wonderfully silky on the palate. The Il Torrino is extraordinarily fresh and lively on the palate thanks to its concise fruit acidity. The finish of this red wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region impresses with a remarkable aftertaste.

Vinification of Il Torrino from Poggio alla Sala

The balanced Il Torrino from Italy is a cuvée made from the Merlot and Sangiovese grape varieties. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on sedimentary and weathered rock soils in Tuscany. Il Torrino is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden vats at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by ageing for several months in oak barriques.

Dining recommendations for Il Torrino from Poggio alla Sala

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to vegetable stews with pesto, potato stir-fries with salmon or chickpea curry.
