More information about Martelo Reserva DOC - La Rioja Alta

The powerful Martelo Reserva La Rioja Alta shimmers into the glass with a dense purple color. At the edges, this Spanish red also shows a transition into garnet red. If you give it some air in the wine glass by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this red wine from La Rioja Alta offers aromas of rum pot, black currants, forest fruit jam, blackberries and blueberries, complemented by oriental spices, cinnamon and gingerbread spice. La Rioja Alta Martelo Reserva delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 1.7 grams of residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine in the top wine range, this Spaniard naturally enraptures with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need sugar. On the palate, the texture of this punchy red wine is wonderfully silky. Due to the balanced fruit acid, the Martelo Reserva flatters with a pleasing mouthfeel, without lacking freshness. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of La Rioja, which can be stored well, finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of blackberry and plum jam.

Vinification of the La Rioja Alta Martelo Reserva

The powerful Martelo Reserva from Spain is a cuvée, pressed from the grape varieties Garnacha and Tempranillo. Without question, the Martelo Reserva is also determined by climatic and stylistic factors of the Rioja DOCa. This Spaniard can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, presenting itself as extraordinarily distinguished and complex. After the grapes are harvested, they immediately enter the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Martelo Reserva is aged for several months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Martelo Reserva from La Rioja Alta

This Spaniard is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to vegetable couscous with beef meatballs, cabbage roulades or goose breast with ginger red cabbage and marjoram.
