Quinta de Quercus DO - Quinta de Quercus

On the label an oak leaf for the name of the wine and the winery Quinta de Quercus - translated the winery to the cork oak. The grapes for this wine are harvested from two single vineyards, with 30-year-old vines on which ripens the Spanish noble grape Tempranillo, surrounded by cork oaks over 300 years old.

An impressive red wine, the Quinta de Quercus made from 100% Tempranillo. In the glass, this wine glows an intense ruby red. The nose smells distinctly of ripe blackberries, plum, rosemary and thyme, as well as hints of spice and clove. Full-bodied, juicy, concentrated, at the same time powerful and fresh on the palate, the tannins are very harmoniously integrated by the oak barrel aging. This richly structured Spaniard ends in a long, expressive finish.

Vinification of the red wine Quinta de Quercus

This red wine is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes from 30-year-old vines in the Viña Ocaña and Camino La Morras single vineyard sites. Winemakers Sam Harrop and Tomás Buendìa follow a clear philosophy of making terroir-driven site wines from native Spanish grape varieties, with depth, elegance, complexity and aging potential.

The selected grapes from the two single vineyards are pressed individually. After temperature-controlled maceration, aging takes place in small American and French oak barrels for 12 months. Only then is this wine bottled. Depending on the vintage and the course of the harvest, the wine is "recreated" each year to make the most of the high potential from the Tempranillo grapes of the two sites.

This Spanish red wine is an excellent wine that is wonderful as a soloist, for enjoying with very good friends, but it can also accompany very well a meal with game and roasted dishes. It is recommended to decant this red wine so that it can develop all its fullness.
