More information about Altor Cuveé trocken - Emil Bauer
With the Emil Bauer Altor Cuveé comes a first-class red wine into the swirled glass. It offers a wonderfully dense, ruby red color. If you give it some air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. Poured into a red wine glass, this red wine from Germany reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, plum, black cherry and morello cherry, rounded out by oriental spices, black tea and firewood contributed by aging in wooden barrels.
This red from Emil Bauer is the right wine for all wine lovers who like as little residual sweetness in their wine as possible. At the same time, however, it never appears meager or brittle, as one might naturally expect from a wine in the icon wine segment. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. The finish of this red wine with good aging potential from the wine-growing region of Palatinate, more precisely from Nußdorf, finally thrills with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by loess and clay.
Vinification of the Altor Cuveé by Emil Bauer
The basis for the powerful Altor Cuveé from the Palatinate are grapes from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Palatinate region. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay, limestone and loess. The fact that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has a considerable influence on the ripening of the grapes. This results, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripened grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. At the time of optimal ripeness, the grapes for Altor Cuveé are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the Altor Cuveé is aged for several months in French oak barrels.
Food recommendation for the Altor Cuveé by Emil Bauer
This German wine is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to arugula penne, red onion stuffed with couscous and apricots or spicy curry with lamb.
