More information about Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG - Tedeschi
The Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG from the Tedeschi winery is a cru named after the vineyard of the same name in Pedemonte di Valpolicella, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico region.
The multi-award-winning Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva DOCG shines ruby red, clear and transparent in the glass. On the nose, this Amarone Riserva smells of cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, overripe fruit that blends harmoniously with oak notes from the Slavonian wooden barrels. But spicy notes of thyme, sweet spices and Mediterranean scrub also emerge like a warm breeze. Elegant and robust in structure, rich and powerful, it presents a beautiful acidity on the palate. The rich aromas from the bouquet are confirmed on the finish. A long and persistent wine.
Vinification of the Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva by Tedeschi
It is the standard bearer of the Tedeschi house. The Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone is a cru, the grapes come from the vineyard of the same name, only 2.5 hectares, facing south-west. It is the only vineyard planted in terraces: the pronounced slope allows the water to run off when it rains too much, while the depth and structure of the soil, which consists mainly of clay marl, retains the water when it becomes too dry. This means that the vines, which are on average 20 years old, are always optimally supplied with water.
For the Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva, 30% each of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes and a total of 10% other local red grapes such as Oseleta, Negrara, Croatina, Forselina and Dindarella are processed together. After the harvest, they undergo the appassimento process in a special drying room for 4 months, with constant humidity control. This is followed by gentle pressing and then alcoholic fermentation and maceration at controlled cool temperatures for 40 to 60 days. The Amarone is then aged for 4 years in Slavonian oak barrels and matures for a further 6 months in the bottle after bottling.
The Capitel Monte Olmi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva from Tedeschi is a wine with very long ageing potential.
