More information about Chianti Riserva DOCG - Poggiotondo
The Chianti Riserva from Poggiotondo in the Italian wine-growing region of Tuscany is a beautiful, excellent and seductive red wine cuvée made from the Sangiovese grape variety and a small proportion of Canaiolo.
In the glass, this wine shimmers a rich garnet red with cherry-red highlights. The expressive bouquet reveals an intense aroma of dark berries - blackberry stands out in particular - perfectly accompanied by strong herbs and spices. This Italian red wine is perfectly balanced on the palate. The aromatic richness harmonizes perfectly with the fine, juicy tannins and dense texture. The long finish is accompanied by subtle mineral notes.
Vinification of the Poggiotondo Chianti Riserva
The grapes (Sangiovese and Canaiolo) grow in Tuscany on calcareous soils (shell limestone).
Once the grapes arrive in the Poggiotondo wine cellar, they are placed in oak and concrete fermenters for fermentation. Only indigenous yeasts are used. The maceration time for this red wine is 10 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place naturally. Finally, this cuvée matures for 20 months in oak barrels.
