More information about Crognolo Toscana IGT - Tenuta Sette Ponti
In the glass, the Crognolo Toscana from Tenuta Sette Ponti presents a dense ruby red color. If you give it a little air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which can be seen in clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of Crognolo Toscana reveals nuances of blackcurrants, blueberries and plums. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel ageing and even more fruity, balsamic nuances.
The Tenuta Sette Ponti Crognolo Toscana impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in this price range, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. The texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense on the palate. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, Crognolo Toscana flatters the palate with a velvety feel without lacking freshness. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of plum and morello cherry. Mineral notes from the sand and limestone-dominated soils are added in the finish.
Vinification of the Crognolo Toscana from Tenuta Sette Ponti
The basis for the powerful Crognolo Toscana from Tuscany is grapes from the Sangiovese grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tuscany. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand and limestone. The Crognolo Toscana is obviously also influenced by the climate and viticultural style of Tuscany. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word and is extraordinarily impressive. The ripeness of the grapes for this Sangiovese wine is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Tuscany, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Crognolo Toscana is aged for a further 6 months in French oak barriques. The ageing in barrels is followed by extensive bottle ageing, which makes this red wine even more complex.
