More information about Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana DOC - Le Mortelle

In the glass, the Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana from Le Mortelle presents a dense purple-red color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which can be seen in clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this red wine from the Old World reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of plum, black cherry, blackcurrant and blueberry, rounded off by gingerbread spice, Mediterranean herbs and dark chocolate, which are contributed by the barrel ageing.

The Le Mortelle Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana is wonderfully dry for wine enthusiasts. This red wine is never coarse or austere, as is appropriate for a wine of this reputation. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully silky, melting and fleshy. On the finish, this young wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of blackberry and plum. In the finish, mineral notes from the clay and sand-dominated soils are added.

Vinification of Le Mortelle Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana

This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grape varieties. In Tuscany, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of loam, sand, clay and marl. The Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana is clearly also determined by climatic and stylistic factors Maremma Toscana DOC. This Italian wine can literally be described as a wine of the Old World, which presents itself in an extraordinarily impressive way. The fact that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate also has a very strong influence on the ripening of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high alcohol content in the wine. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After hand-picking, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana is matured in French oak barriques for a further 24 months. The ageing in oak barrels is followed by a long maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for the Poggio alle Nane Maremma Toscana from Le Mortelle

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to ossobuco, roast veal liver with apples, onions and balsamic vinegar sauce or stuffed peppers.
